If you travel in Beijing , Memorial Hall of Mao Zedong is a final resting place for Mao Zedong, the chairman of the Communist Party in China. Visitors who visit Tiananmen Square (the biggest public square in the world) will have an easy access to reach this memorial hall, it just located in the south of the Square. This memorial hall shaped like a square and covered in the total area of 20,000 square meters and a height of 33.6 meters.
The memorial hall was built not long after Mao Zedong death after the construction completed less than half a year later on the 24 of May 1977. After that, Memorial Hall of Mao Zedong was opened to the public till now. Today, there lots of local people and even tourists in Beijing will come to directly see the embalmed body of Mao Zedong. Each day, in front of the memorial hall will crowded with visitors, a long waiting line of visitors who want to enter the area.
The ground floor on the building is only the part that opened to the public. It consist North Great Hall, the Memorial Hall and the South Great Hall. The north hall to the main gate can accommodate over 700 people. It is the place where the memorial activities are held. Inside the memorial hall, visitors not only could see the body of Mao Zedong, but also will found many cultural relics, historical documents, letters and pictures. From that, visitors could know a little bit about history of China. For visitors who want to bring some flowers to the memorial hall, they could buy it in the north side of the main gate.
Not only tourists or locals that interest visit Memorial Hall of Mao, but also all the family members of Mao Zedong which still live are always visit the tomb of their ancestor. They usually come twice a year, which is the day when Mao was born and death.
The memorial hall opened from 08:00 till 12:00, from Tuesday to Sunday. Like another memorial hall, there have some strict regulations which is visitors should bring their valid certificate or their ID. Not only that, inside the memorial visitors are also not allowed to talking, smoking, capture some photos or videos. They should keep their voice down, not make some noises, and turn off their phone. Visitors are also should properly dressed, with no shorts, hat, or miniskirts for some respects. Chairman Mao Memorial Hall has already become a sacred and important place in China which all of the locals would respect.
